Hey Moisties! Thanks for a great show in Montréal last night with Jenny Dee, the Black Hollies, and les bebes requins—everyone got très moist. So moist, in fact, that les bebes requins have invited us to play with them in their hometown of Sherbrooke, Québec tonight, so if you’re in Sherbrooke, come out to Salon and get moist!
We’ll just have a little poutine and some Montréal smoked meat, and hop back in the moistmobile. See you tonight!

It’s almost that time! We’ve just stepped out of our last rehearsal, and are currently doing some last-minute costume fittings with our designer Shino-chan. Then we’ll be polishing up the album a touch before stepping onto the plane tomorrow and jetting off to the great white north—we can’t wait! See you soon!

We’ve been recording like crazy in our home studio in the hopes that we can finish our album by the time we play Pop Montréal. The problem with a home studio is that, when you live right next to a major street, every other take gets ruined by a truck or a motorcycle. Today, however the noise from outside was much happier. A surprise shrine-carrying festival gave us a brief, much-needed break on a beautiful day.
Okay, now back to work! See you in Canada!
Okay, now that it’s all officially official, we can officially tell you that The Moist Towelettes are once again heading across the Pacific to make Canada moist! This time, we’ll be playing with moistly-named dirty rockers The Sweat in Toronto at the Tranzac on September 30th.
After that, we’ll hop into the moistmobile and speed off to Montréal to join amazing acts like Dragonette, Yo La Tengo, Buffy Sainte-Marie, and Kid Koala at Pop Montréal! That show is at Barfly on October 2nd (and those acts won’t be actually sharing the stage with us; they’re just part of the same festival, to clarify). Très moist!
Stay tuned, because we may be adding a gig or two elsewhere as well. We can’t wait!

The Towelettes have been keeping pretty busy in the practice studio making sure we’re at our very best for our big Summer Daydream on Sunday. While having a drink and “stuffing” ourselves at an unusual izakaya with our “dear” friends, we came up with a plan to “mount” a show that no one will forget! How, you ask? By making it the release party for our new single, Girl Revolution! That’s right – we’re releasing a single featuring the track, along with two brand-new amazing remixes by Kid Whatever, and the karaoke version of the song (the lyrics are included). So don’t spend your Sunday “stag”-nating at home – come to our Summer Daydream and start your own Girl Revolution!
Those of you in Tokyo know that the weather in the last couple of days has gone directly from mild to sweltering. The heat and humidity have reminded us of just how moist summers in Tokyo can be. Well, where there’s moistness, you’ll find The Moist Towelettes!
Now that we’ve thawed out from a long and quiet winter (was our last post really January 1st?), we’ve gone back into the studio to gear up for what might be our best year yet. It all starts on Sunday, May 24th, with our first show of 2009, “The Moist Towelettes’ Summer Daydream”!
We’ll be performing two exciting sets, and there will be lots of surprises, the details of which we’ll reveal here over the next couple of weeks. We sat down to a delicious Italian dinner last night (pictured above), and hammered out all the details, including a grueling practice schedule, so however lofty your expectations, they’ll certainly be met. And if not, we’ll tell you where you can get some excellent pizza.

Hello Moisties – welcome to a brand-new year and a brand-new website! We had a great end to 2008 with a couple of fantastic shows, one with our new favourite band, Metro Ongen, and another for the 10th anniversary of our favourite bar, Heaven’s Door. We sang lots of brand-new songs, and showed off our brand-new outfits (pictured above, handmade by Emi and Yuko, of course)! We’ve also been recording brand-new material for our brand-new album (which we’ll be releasing this year)! Everything’s brand new! So here’s to an exciting year of brand-new things and to, above all, getting so moist! KANPAI! Happy New Year!
